Carl has been the pastor at Hyland Heights for 14 1/2 years. He has a B.A. from Louisiana College, Master of Divinity Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has pastored at Latanache Baptist Church in Batchelor, LA from 1980 – 1982; First Baptist Church in Lake Providence, LA from 1982-1986; and Unity Baptist Church in Pineville, LA from 1986-1994.
Carl’s hobbies include hunting and golf.

Paul oversees the adult education and the counseling ministry of the church. He is also presently working on developing small groups at HHBC. He has been a member at HHBC for almost 12 years, and has been working at HHBC since December of 1998. Almost 8 years.
Paul has completed his Bachelors in Psychology with a concentration in counseling and human services. He then went on to complete his Masters of Divinity, and is now ready to start his thesis for the Doctorate of Ministry degree.
Paul also enjoys hunting and playing pool.

Rick became a member back in 1995 as a lay person and due to a career change, moved to Alabama in 1999. He was called into full time ministry in the spring of 2004 and came on staff here in the fall of that year. Rick acquired a bachelor’s degree in Forest Products from Mississippi State University in December, 1990 and worked in the forest products environmental industry for 12 years. The two years before ministry he worked in the chemical sales industry for water and waste water plants.
Rick is married to his high school sweetheart Martha and they have 3 boys Ethan, Caleb, and Josh. They enjoy hunting, fishing, football, soccer, baseball, play station, and leisure drives in the mountains. Rick also enjoys golf and is currently attending seminary through Liberty’s Distance Learning Program.

Although born in Minnesota, Brian was raised and lived in Lynchburg throughout his school years and early adult life. Brian graduated from Liberty University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministries and Youth Ministry. After taking a year off to work and marry his lovely wife, Nancy, Brian continued his education by earning a Master of Divinity at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in May of 1996. He began his full-time ministry with students while in Seminary as an Assistant High School Pastor at Thomas Road Baptist Church. Upon graduation, Brian followed God’s leading to fill the position of Associate Pastor of Students at Lizella Baptist Church in Lizella, GA. After eleven years of service God called Brian and his family back to Lynchburg as the Senior High Pastor and Director of Student Ministries at HHBC.
Brian and Nancy have two wonderful children, Brandon and Emily, and are expecting their third in November of 2008. Brian enjoys soccer, the martial arts, Frisbee golf, reading, and hanging out with his friends and students.

David Dalton is the senior ranking staff member at HHBC, having just celebrated 20 years of service as Minister of Music. He oversees all aspects of music at Hyland Heights , including the children's choir, praise team, orchestra and adult choir. He is also the founder and director of The Lynchburg Living Cross, a HHBC music and drama presentation that reaches thousands of people each year during Easter.
Under David's leadership, the Sanctuary Choir has grown from a handful to over 90 members. In addition to The Living Cross, God has opened doors for the choir to minister in a number of venues, including premiering a Mike Speck musical at the Christian Supply Choral Festival in Spartanburg , SC and recording a CD with noted arranger, Lari Goss. For the past two years the choir has also provided a musical package for the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia's annual meeting in Richmond and Roanoke.
David holds a BS degree in Sacred Music from Liberty University and is an accomplished pianist, soloist, and trombonist. He and his wife, Shelby, have been married for 30 years and have two sons Brian (wife Jessica) and Seth.

Bryan Hagley is the Junior High Youth Pastor here at Hyland. He was a member of HHBC from 1999 to 2003 then left to serve at a church in Ohio. God brought him back as the Jr. High Youth Pastor in March 2005.
Bryan is a Liberty University Graduate with a B.S. in Religion, and is currently taking classes through LBTS.
“I love to cook – so if God had not called me into full time ministry, I would pursue a career as a chef.” Bryan loves spending time with his wife Jennifer and his son Gabriel. He is a dedicated MARSHALL UNIVERSITY THUNDERING HERD football fan and enjoys singing and doing special music at the church. Watching football, cooking and eating chili, and deer hunting are also activities that Bryan enjoys.

Janet became Admin Asst in our Student Ministries Center in 2006. She comes to us with 12 + years office experience from Liberty University. She and her husband Raleigh own Raleigh Signs, Inc. where she assists with bookkeeping. She holds a B.A. degree from Maranatha Baptist Bible College. Her interests include HHBC choir, Ladies Bible Study, gardening, reading, and time with family (4 children, 3 children-in-law; 4 grandchildren and dog, Oreo).

Jo Jo graduated from Amherst County High School, Phillips Business College and Central Virginia Community College. She worked for a coal mining company, radio station, attorney and real estate settlement service before coming to work at Hyland Heights in May, 2005. Her family consists of 3 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, 3 grandchildren, a dog and 2 cats. Her free time is spent with her family and friends, church activities, and working with Amherst County Dixie Youth Girls Softball and the Amherst County Parks and Recreation Department.
