Catch the Dang Thing!

Updated: Mar 16, 2020

The story goes that an industrious turkey farmer was always experimenting with breeding, to perfect a better turkey. His family was fond of the legs for dinner and there were never enough for everyone. After many frustrating attempts, the farmer was relating the results of his efforts to his friends at the general store get together: "Well I finally did it. I bred a turkey that has 6 legs!"

They all asked the farmer how it tasted. "I don't know" said the farmer. "I could never catch the dang thing!"

The Bible tells us that we are all running a race to capture a crown, however the crown we are running after is unlike any other. We're not running to win man's approval, we're not running for things that won't last, we're not running for ourselves. The Bible says we are running to win a crown, one that is imperishable and does not fade away. Our crown brings glory to the Father, it builds His Kingdom, it makes His name great, it points others to Christ. Let me encourage you during this holiday season to not forget to live life in such a manner that will bring praise to the Father.

If you happened to miss it in the bulletin Sunday let me remind you. Our women's ministry is opening the doors of our church on Thanksgiving day inviting anyone who would like to join them for a Thanksgiving meal. It will be at 2:00 p.m. and while the turkey & chicken is provided, you will need to bring side dishes. Please contact Rowena Slusser to make sure they have enough food for everyone. Her number is 434.664.5662.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Pastor Carl
