Declare His Glory - Weekly Celebration (May 14)

“Sing a new song to the Lord; let the whole earth sing to the Lord. Sing to the Lord, bless his name; proclaim his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among all peoples.” (Psalm 96:1-3)

God’s Word tells us that we are called to shout, to sing, and to declare His praise so that everyone can hear. That’s why we like to take a minute each week to celebrate some of the great things that God is doing at Hyland Heights, to encourage you to be a part, and to challenge you to join in sharing Jesus with others as well. Below are several of the many celebrations we could share this week as well as our financial update for the week.

Welcome to the family! This past week, 12 people completed the Connect Class and committed to become part of our Hyland Heights church family. We love that God continues to grow our church through new members and baptisms each month. If you want to learn more about taking your next steps at Hyland Heights, check out hhbc.net/nextsteps.

Congratulations Graduates! Over the past several days, I’ve seen so many of our church members share photos of graduation from different colleges. We want to add our congratulations, and we are proud of and excited for you as you take whatever next steps God is leading you to take!

Greif Share Completions: This past week, 10 people also completed our Greif Share Ministry course. The loss of a loved one can be devastating. We know we can’t make the pain go away, but we do promise to walk alongside you and to keep you in our prayers. We also have great coaches that can help you figure out how to keep putting one foot in front of the other after such a loss. Our next Greif Share session begins in August. Contact the church office for more information.

Celebrating Moms: Last Saturday and Sunday we had a great opportunity to celebrate the women in our lives who have made us into the people we are today. Our Men’s Ministry did a great job hosting breakfast on Saturday for moms of all ages. Thank you guys, and thank you to the many ladies who joined us for this event!

What’s Next? This Sunday we will have the pastor of one of our church plant partnerships join us for worship. Trust me when I say, you won’t want to miss Charles Wilson bringing the Word this week! Also, starting Sunday May 23rd we will begin our Summer Sermon Series through the Book of Daniel. If you like to take notes, check out this neat tool to help you during the next series: CSB Scripture Notebook, Daniel: Read. Reflect. Respond.: CSB Bibles by Holman: 9781087731179: Amazon.com: Books.

Life on Mission: What I love about our church is that we are right now, and becoming even more so over time, passionate about living out the mission of God in our lives. This summer, two of our young adult/college students are heading to different areas of the country to serve and reach people for Jesus. Knowing this has led me to ask the question: “How do I, and how do you, plan to serve and share Jesus better this summer?” I’m praying for these students, for myself, and for you as we each use this summer to make an impact for the Kingdom!

Spring Missions Offering: On Sunday, May 23rd we will take up our Spring Missions Offering. Our goal this year is $30,000. 30% will go to support the SBCV (our state convention), 20% to the North American Mission Board, 20% to Hill Church (our church plant partner in Roanoke), 20% to our mission trip scholarship fund (to send more HHBC members on mission than ever before), and 10% to our benevolence fund to help meet needs and share Jesus better in our own back yard. Please continue to pray about how God might be leading you to give to missions this spring. If you would like to give online, go to hhbc.net/give, follow the link, then select “Missions” from the drop down menu.

HHBC Weekly Financials:

May 9 Offering: $ 40,281.13

Weekly Budget: $33,228.00

Percentage of YTD Budget Received: 100.5%

Thank you for your continued generosity! God is moving in incredible ways at Hyland Heights and each gift continues to help us live out the vision of Jesus as we connect, grow, and impact our world for the gospel.

Declaring His glory,

Dr. Josh Carter Senior Pastor
