Foundation to Proceed

Updated: Mar 16, 2020

One of the reasons we hesitate about moving forward is that we have forgotten the past. While we are a people always looking ahead and we don't give much thought to the future. However, did you know that God wants us to remember the past? In Psalm 105:26-45, the Psalm writer recounts God's work through Moses to lead His people out of four hundred years of Egyptian slavery. God did that, to say to them I did it before and I'll do it again, trust me. The Psalm reminds them of God's work in the past preparing and how He provides for His people.

Instead of ignoring the lessons of the past we need to look back and remember what God has done for us. You see we need to not only look back 2,000 years but we need to look back just a few years ago when God forgave us, when God answered our prayers, when God delivered us. You see, we can have faith for the future because we know that God worked in the past. You might remember the song Kenny Layne sang some time ago. It is entitled "Do It Again" by Elevation Worship. Here are the words:

"Walking around these walls I thought by now they'd fall, But You have never failed me yet Waiting for change to come. Knowing the battle's won, For You have never failed me yet

Your promise still stands, Great is Your faithfulness, Your faithfulness. I'm still in Your hands, This is my confidence, You've never failed me yet

I know the night won't last, Your Word will come to pass My heart will sing Your praise again, Jesus, You're still enough Keep me within Your love, My heart will sing Your praise again"

Today lay fear aside and remember that your God is faithful. He gave His only Son, He saved you, He draws near to you. As the song says, "He did it once, He'll do it again".

Remember to pray for Carolyn Davidson as she continues to struggle with many medical issues. She's been at LGH for weeks now so lift her up asking God to touch her with His healing.

Enjoy the sunshine,

Pastor Carl
