Growing Together At Home: Contributors
Now that we are starting to see changes in expectation, we will see more opportunity to live out our faith as the local church. Even though we are still limited in what it looks like to meet together to study, learn and grow, we must continue to make this a priority as families.
Each week, you will find a new audio message, along with some corresponding Scripture readings that focus on the topic addressed in the message. You will also see a number of questions designed for you and your family to discuss together, or for you to use in personal reflection and assessment. Our desire is that your family will have an opportunity to engage together with God’s Word and examine the expectations expressed for His family.
We are discussing today the tenth of twelve simple steps that will guide us in fulfilling the church’s mission to become disciples who make disciples. Today we will identify the importance and responsibility of what it means to be a Contributor.

READ & DISCUSS
Scripture Reading One: James 1:22
What warning does James give to Christ followers in this verse?
What are Christ followers encouraged to do?
Really hearing and understanding God’s Word means putting action to the things that we
hear, allowing the Word of God to move us to do what it says and become a part of Christ’s mission.
If we are hearers only, we actually are deceiving ourselves. We are not Christ followers
who are spiritually maturing because we are not allowing the Word to change our lives
and move us to be a part of what God is doing.
What steps can you take to move from being a hearer to a doer?
Scripture Reading Two: Ephesians 4:11-13
God gifted various Christ followers to equip and prepare His people for works of service.
What do you think are some of those works of service?
Why does God desire His people - the church - to do works of service?
What works of service should be done to produce unity and maturity in our church?
What are some ways that you can contribute to the work of the church?
It is important to remember that as we contribute to God’s work, we are supporting the mission of the church and making it possible for the church to impact the world around us. This is how we, as Christ followers, are able to participate and support the mission of Christ on a practical level, by being involved and hands on in the work of ministry.
