Growing Together At Home: Christ Followers
Updated: Apr 22, 2020
In just a few short weeks, the coronavirus has caused worldwide disruptions. For most of us, it has affected major portions of our lives including, work, school, relationships, church and more. The local church is very important, we want to help individuals and families continue to live in obedience and grow in their relationship with God during this “new normal.” Even if we cannot currently meet in large groups, we can still open the Bible as families and respond to the challenges and expectations that God has given for our personal and corporate development.
Each week, you will find a new audio message, along with some corresponding Scripture readings that focus on the topic addressed in the message. You will also see a number of questions designed for you and your family to discuss together or for you to use in personal reflection and assessment. Our desire is that your family will have an opportunity to engage together with God’s Word and examine the expectations expressed for His family.
This week’s topic is the first of twelve simple steps that will guide us in fulfilling the church’s mission to become disciples who make disciples. The first step in this process is to Connect with God and others. Today we will examine what it means to Connect with God by becoming a Christ follower, and how the gift of an eternal relationship with God should direct and transform our daily lives.

READ & DISCUSS
Scripture Reading One: Romans 10:9-10
According to Romans 10:9-10, what is required for anyone to accept Jesus Christ into their lives and begin following Him?
The Romans 10 passage is very specific about the steps for accepting Jesus, but why is it important to confess Jesus as Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead?
As a family, share the time when you followed these steps and invited Jesus to come into your life and decided to follow Him.
Scripture Reading Two: Ephesians 2:8-10
It is clear in Ephesians 2 that God provides salvation because of His grace and that it is given as a free gift. What reason does this passage give for why God chose this method?
Since we are talking about being Christ followers, what expectation does God expect us to follow according to verse 10?
Scripture Reading Three: 1 Corinthians 11:1
What does this verse tell us about what it means to be a Christ follower?
Since we are to follow the example of Christ, what actions or qualities of your life distinguish you as a Christ follower?
What is one action or characteristic of your life can you work on this week to become a better follower of Christ’s example?
How does being a Christ follower help you Connect with God better?
