How Blessed Are We?

Updated: Mar 16, 2020

Just how blessed are we? Stop and think about it for a moment - we live in probably the greatest nation in the history of mankind. We have personal freedoms unlike the vast majority of the people on earth. We have opportunities that few others have when it comes to following our dreams and passions. Even though our nation is in need of a major spiritual awakening, there is still so much to be grateful for.

When our mission team was in Cuba, one of the things that we learned was that up until a few months ago no one really owned their home. As long as they lived in the home it was theirs, but if they tried to move out the home belonged to the government. Our homes are one of the greatest blessings we enjoy. It's a place of refuge and safety, of making memories and this week many of our homes will be where all our family gathers to celebrate Thanksgiving.

With all we have to be thankful for we need to remember what Jesus said to the disciples after they had been on mission. They came back sharing how miracles had happened and lives had been transformed. Jesus listened and then said, "Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven" (Luke 10:20).

May we never forget how precious our salvation truly is. I received an email late last night from Janet Nunn sharing with me that her sister, Darlene, had died and was now in Heaven. Janet's email expressed sadness but she came back to the fact that because Darlene was a believer she was now at home, free from suffering. This week as you "count your blessings", never forget the greatest blessing - that your name is recorded in heaven.

Please remember to pray for Janet and her family. Also remember Lance Plyter as he continues to battle medical issues. Also remember Roger Jones that as he grows weaker in body he'll grow stronger in faith. Remember also his family as they care for him. Also please pray for the Everett, Dianne and Emily Foutz as Dianne's mom, Violet Thigpen passed away Friday night. Her faith has become sight as she is now in Heaven.

Rejoice in God's blessings,

Pastor Carl
