The Only True God - Weekly Celebration (September 26th, 2021)

Updated: Oct 4, 2021

1 Praise is rightfully yours, God, in Zion; vows to you will be fulfilled. 2 All humanity will come to you, the one who hears prayer. 3 Iniquities overwhelm me; only you can atone for our rebellions. 4 How happy is the one you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We will be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple.
- Psalms 65:1-4

There’s an incredible richness to the opening lines of this Psalm. Don’t miss it! God, the one and only true God, the creator and sustainer of the universe God, the Alpha and Omega God, and the Only one who can save God, desires you. He desires you specifically, He tells you to come before Him, He beacons you to speak to Him, He lavishes wholly unmerited grace upon you who needs it, He offers immeasurable forgiveness when you ask for it, and He provides sustaining strength to the one who calls on His name.

That God and that you. I have been soaking in this all week, so bear with me. That God hears my prayers. That God hears your prayers. It almost sounds too good to be true except that God, who doesn’t lie, through His Word, has declared this to be so. God hears his children. He is not just begrudgingly willing to listen, He asks for you to come, to call, to pray.

Whatever you are going through this week, take it to the Lord in prayer. If circumstances call for celebration, give thanks. If the days have brought hardship, lean in for His peace and strength. If sin has separated, repent and trust His grace. We can pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) because there is always a reason to go to the Father in prayer.

Below are also a few celebrations from the past week as well as our most recent financial update.

This Saturday’s Women’s Ministry Event: Join us for the Going Beyond Simulcast with Pricilla Shirer on Saturday, September 25th beginning at 9:00 am. At the Going Beyond simulcast, you'll find whole-hearted teaching to inspire and challenge you to step into God’s plan for your life, as well as powerful worship that centers your heart on Christ. Family Dedication Celebration: We love families at Hyland Heights! This Sunday will include a special time of prayer in our worship service for families who have desired to dedicate their children before the Lord. (If you missed our dedication dinner or will miss this Sunday for any reason, but want your family to participate in the Spring, please let Kathy Straw know (kstraw@hhbc.net) and she will make sure you get the next celebration dates as soon as possible.) Church, join us this Sunday as we celebrate what God is doing in the life of families in our church and in the life of our church as a whole!

Mission Trip Week is Here: A team of 19 will be heading to Pittsburgh a week from today (Thursday). Please add our team to your prayers through Monday, October 4th. Pray for safety as we travel, pray for unity in our team, and, above all else, pray that we will share the gospel with great boldness that many may come to faith in Jesus.

Singular Hope Lunch: Our deacons want to invite you to a luncheon after the second service on Sunday, October 10th. It is open to anyone who has lost a spouse or partner through death, divorce, or other circumstances. We want to get to know you and be a small part in encouraging you through the hope we all have in Christ. Please RSVP to brandonpwaggoner@gmail.com.

Baptism Celebration: Last Sunday was an incredible celebration as 4 people were baptized. May God continue to transform lives by the power of His gospel! If you or someone you know has an interest in being baptized soon, talk to one of our pastors, contact the church office, or go to hhbc.net/nextsteps to learn more.

Hyland Heights Café is Coming: Coming in October, we plan to have the café near entrance 3 open again. We still need help to make it happen each week. If you would like to be a part of our café hospitality team, email Tim Fus at tfus@hhbc.net.

Mike Summy Sabbatical Reminder: We want to remind the church that Mike Summy, our Children’s Pastor, is on Sabbatical the month of September. God has used Mike in incredible ways over the past 20 years at Hyland Heights and we look forward to seeing how God continues to work through him for many years to come. Pray that this time away is restful, provides him amazing opportunities to connect with various children’s leaders around our state, allows him to bring encouragement to our HHBC missionaries who serve in Hungary, and gives him fresh vision and excitement as he returns.

HHBC Weekly Financials:

This Week’s Offering: $35,431.80

Weekly Budgeted Need: $36,346.00

Year-to-Date we have received 102% of our budged need.

We hope that you can see how each week your faithful generosity is making an incredible impact here at Hyland Heights. As we recently began our new fiscal year (August-July), we want to say thank you for your continued faithfulness. Because of your incredible generosity over the past year, we have increased our regular missions giving and better budgeted to propel our ministries forward over the coming year. Our prayer is that the Lord will continue to bless your gospel generosity to advance His Kingdom in incredible ways as we all move forward together.

There are multiple ways for you to give, including hhbc.net/give, on the HHBC app, in worship by placing your gift in the offering boxes in our worship center, or by mailing your gift to 11452 Wards Rd., Rustburg, VA 24588.

Covid Reminders:

HHBC continues to strive to keep our church family safe during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. We continue to encourage everyone to take the precautions you would take when entering into any other building. We also want to remind everyone that the 9:30 service still has plenty of room for you and your family to join us while best maintaining social distancing. Thank you for your help and understanding as we strive to keep the people we love as safe as possible. For additional information on HHBC’s response to Covid-19 go to hhbc.net/coronavirus
