Weekly Celebration! (May 6)

Updated: Jul 10, 2020

Church Family,

It’s hard to believe it’s already May! This past weekend my family spent some time outside and, some of us, even got a little red from the sun! My prayer for this May is that just as it’s easy to see when someone has been in the sun for a time, that people in our community would continue to see the radiance of Christ in our lives because of our time with Him. Below are some ways Hyland Heights has been shining for Jesus this past week as well as our weekly financials.

  • As many of you have seen, this past week, because of the tremendous generosity of our church family, we were able to fill the gas tanks of over 200 medical workers in our community as a way to say thank you for serving on the front lines during this time of national crisis. Each medical worker received up to $20 in gas, a Chick-fil-A sandwich, cookie, additional coupons from Sheetz, a Hyland Heights water, and a card to remind them that our God and our church cares about them and about our community! If you haven’t seen the video yet, this outreach was featured on WSET News 13 last Thursday night and you can see it by clicking here.

  • Another amazing thing that is happening is that God is continuing to bless Hyland Heights with growth! This Monday, we hosted our connect class online where people who are newer to Hyland Heights had the opportunity to learn how to get involved more and become members of our church. Be praying that God would continue to let Hyland Heights see more growth and salvations in the weeks to come!

  • One way you can serve HHBC during this time is to sign-up to prep-rooms (take things off walls) or paint an area of the church. If you would like to paint a Life Group room or Children’s room please call the office, (434) 821-6906, to sign-up and let them know what time you would like to be in the building. Thank you for serving to get our facilities ready to reopen soon!

  • You can also help us as we continue our reopening planning by taking a quick survey here. Your answers to these questions will help us flesh out some of the crucial next steps we need to take as a church family to bring us all back together safely in the weeks to come. Thank you for your continued prayers and for staying plugged in through our online services during this time of mandatory social distancing that our nation is experiencing. We look forward to being together again soon, and we want to make sure we return in the safest and most effective way possible.

  • Finally, we want to remind you that tomorrow is the National Day of Prayer. Click here for a list of ways to pray for your community and nation during this time, provided by the SBC Executive Committee.

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” ~ Matthew 5:14-16
