The Preschool at Hyland Heights operates as a ministry of the church, providing an evangelical, Christ-centered preschool ministry of love and care to families and young children.

Our program consists of age-appropriate developmental activities to nurture the child’s Spiritual, Social, Academic, and Physical Development in an atmosphere of Christian love, caring, and acceptance. At all times, we work toward the development and encouragement of a positive self-image in each child, helping the child to know he or she is special and that Jesus loves him or her in a special way.

The children at The Preschool at Hyland Heights profit from a well-rounded educational program provided by professionals in the field of education.
Teachers at The Preschool at Hyland Heights are required to have a BS degree in either Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education, or the teacher shall have 3-5 years experience working in a preschool setting plus knowledge gained from seminars, workshops, or college courses relating to the preschool child. Teachers are encouraged to participate in Early Childhood Workshops and Conferences.
The Teaching Assistants at The Preschool at Hyland Heights have a variety of educational backgrounds as well as prior experience working with the preschool child via home-life, church programs, and volunteer activities. Assistants are encouraged to participate in Early Childhood Workshops and Conferences.

Several of our staff members are CPR certified (infant, child, and adult), and one of our teachers is MAT (Medication Administration Training) certified.

OUR PROGRAM
The preschool is open to all children, regardless of race, nationality, creed, gender, disability, and national origin who may benefit from our type of program.
Children bring their own nutritious snack and juice for morning snack time.
Classes are from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.
In compliance with the Code of Virginia, we are licensed as a religious exempt child center by the Virginia Department of Social Services and comply with standards set by the Department of Social Services. Classes are provided in accordance with the requirements of the Commonwealth of Virginia for age, teacher-to-pupil ratio, and health certification.
If your child has a diagnosis or an IEP that is already set in place it is important that we know prior to enrollment in order to ensure that our program will be able to accommodate your child.
If your child is already enrolled we will be glad to help identify children with special needs. We are also available to help guide you as a parent to assess your child, get the help they need, and provide early intervention.

The spiritual growth of the child is of utmost importance to us. The basic Christian fundamentals of the love of God and the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, are taught and modeled for the children by all staff members. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and provides direction for daily living.
Our classes use Joyful Heart Learning by Michelle Hubbard and Trailblazer by Vanessa Levin.
OUR FACILITY
LOCATION
Our facility is located in the Hyland Heights Baptist Church building at 11452 Wards Road in Rustburg, Virginia. Hyland Heights is on route 29, approximately three miles South of the Lynchburg Regional Airport.
We have the use of 7 classrooms as well as a large music room and gym. Our outdoor playground areas are well equipped for development of motor skills.

INSURANCE
Our liability insurance is covered by the policy of Hyland Heights Baptist Church.
REGISTRATION
Our preschool opens registration in February, first to those currently enrolled, their siblings, and church members. The preschool is then open to the community members who are on our waiting list.

Once your application is received, an invoice will be sent to you for the registration fee. After payment, your child's spot for the upcoming school year will be confirmed. The class assignments will be based on availability.
