Weekly Celebration! (May 12)

Updated: Jul 10, 2020

Church Family,

I remember sharing with our church on the Sunday I preached in view of a call that God has already placed a great love for the people of Hyland Heights in the hearts of our family, and it’s true! We can’t wait to be back together face to face with each of you. I shared the cartoon below that my friend Joe McKeever drew this week and I got to tell you I can relate!

That said, below are some things at Hyland Heights that you won’t want to miss this week, as well as our weekly financials.

  • This past week, you may have heard, that the Governor of Virginia reduced restrictions on churches. This was, in large part, due to a group of pastors of churches throughout Virginia, including Hyland Heights Baptist Churches, that banded together to introduce to the Governor our plans to reopen the doors of our churches. We know (and plan to continue to make) safety a priority, but we also know that God has created us both body and spirit and that both need to be nurtured to be healthy. That said, on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. you can hear from our pastors through Facebook live as we discuss our plan to reopen and move forward in the weeks to come. We will also send out an updated link to our website where our plans will be able to be found before the end of the week.

  • As we gear up for reopening, we are also planning an upcoming baptism Sunday. Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized as an outward sign of what Christ has done in their life, a reminder to them and a testimony to the world (Mt. 28:18-20, Acts 2:38-41). If you or one of your family members have come to faith in Christ but have not followed through, for whatever reason, in baptism, we would love to talk with you more about this important step of faith. Contact the church office at (434) 821-6906 or email us at to find our more information.

  • Also, in preparation for reopening, join in the fun by helping us get our rooms ready. If you would like to paint a Life Group room or Children’s room please call the office, (434) 821-6906, to sign-up and let them know what time you would like to be in the building. Thank you for serving to get our facilities ready to reopen soon!

Weekly Offering: $49,880.00

Weekly Budget: $33,228.00

As of May 10th, we have received 101% of our year-to-date budget.

Thank you for continuing to be a generous church! Your continued faithfulness in this area is not only helping our church minister in significant ways during the coronavirus but is helping our church and ministries to be ready to go and make an impact for Jesus throughout the rest of the year. You can always give to Hyland Heights online at, by dropping your offering by our offices, or by mailing your offering to our office at:

11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
